‘Watchmen’ Featurette Unveils More of HBO’s Ambitious Comic Book Adaptation

HBO

Check out this new featurette that’s arrived for HBO‘s highly-anticipated adaptation of the classic graphic novel Watchmen.

Whereas Zack Snyder adapted the classic 1986 work of the same name by Alan Moore and Dave Gibbons somewhat directly (with some big changes nevertheless), this is “inspired” by it. “Our Watchmen honours the graphic novel, without making it necessary to have read it in order to understand this new story,” says creator Damon Lindelof, who has a list of credits that include Lost, World War Z, and HBO’s masterful The Leftovers.

The featurette offers up interview snippets with the cast – including Regina King and Jeremy Irons – and a lot of footage. With some highly regarded source material, a strong cast, what looks like a big budget, we’ve got our fingers firmly crossed for something special here. Watchmen will kicking off on HBO on October 20.
