Wednesday Adams cometh! Netflix has announced that production for Wednesday season 2 has wrapped, marking the end of filming in Ireland. The streaming giant also shared a first-look image (above) featuring Jenna Ortega’s Wednesday brooding in a graveyard.

A Darker Second Chapter

“This season, Wednesday’s journey is darker and more complex as she navigates family, friends, new mysteries, and old adversaries, propelling her headlong into another year at Nevermore,” series creators and executive producers Al Gough and Miles Millar told Netflix site Tudum.

Plot details are being kept under wraps for now, but the second chapter is promising to delve even deeper into the gothic mysteries of Nevermore Academy. Expect new twists, adversaries, and even more chaos.

Returning Cast and Newcomers

The new season will see the return of several fan favourites. Emma Myers (Enid Sinclair), Joy Sunday (Bianca Barclay), Catherine Zeta-Jones (Morticia Addams), and Luis Guzmán (Gomez Addams) are all confirmed to return. As will Moosa Mostafa (Eugene), Georgie Farmer (Ajax), and Fred Armisen (Uncle Fester).

Joining the cast are a mix of acclaimed actors and rising stars. Joanna Lumley (Absolutely Fabulous) will take on the role of Grandmama, Steve Buscemi (Boardwalk Empire) is Barry Dort, Billie Piper (I Hate Suzie) is Capri, and Thandiwe Newton (Westworld) is on board as Dr. Fairburn.

Other notable additions include Owen Painter, Evie Templeton, Noah Taylor, and Christopher Lloyd, the latter making a guest appearance as a nod to his Addams Family legacy (he played Uncle Fester Addams in 1991’s The Addams Family and its 1993 sequel Addams Family Values). And there’s more! Among the guest stars: Frances O’Connor (The Missing), Haley Joel Osment (The Kominsky Method), Heather Matarazzo (The Princess Diaries), and Joonas Suotamo.

“Our goal this season was to discover some fresh faces as well as invite some acting legends we’ve always admired to join Jenna and the gang at Nevermore,” Millar and Gough told Tudum back in May. “When we survey the talent we’ve assembled, we could not be more thrilled. Mission accomplished.”

Tim Burton, who directed several episodes of Season 1, remains integral to the series as director and executive producer. The premiere episode, titled “Here We Woe Again,” is penned by Gough and Millar and helmed by Burton himself.

Fingers crossed that Wednesday season 2 is a thrilling return to the world of Nevermore Academy. Let’s also hope that a release date is announced soon. The second season is set to premiere sometime in 2025.
