Netflix has unveiled the big official trailer for Wednesday Season 2, Part 1, offering fans a glimpse into a darker, more personal chapter in the life of the gothic teen sleuth. With psychic visions, strained family ties, and the threat of death hanging over her closest friend, Wednesday Addams returns to Nevermore Academy with even more on her plate. Enid’s Life on the Line — and Wednesday May Be to Blame
The trailer wastes no time in raising the stakes. During a vision, Wednesday (Jenna Ortega) sees her best friend and roommate, Enid Sinclair (Emma Myers), die — and she believes she’s somehow responsible. “Enid dies, and it’s all my fault,” she says.

It’s a twist that promises to test Wednesday in ways she hasn’t faced before. “Wednesday definitely has to navigate a lot of relationships in Season 2, primarily with her mother and with Enid,” co-creator Miles Millar told Netflix site Tudum. “She discovers that those relationships are treacherous and it’s not easygoing. We really wanted to find some new obstacles for Wednesday. She thinks she has it all under control, and discovers that human interaction isn’t as easy as she thought.”
Myers added, “Enid and Wednesday understand each other now on a deeper level. It’s fun to explore that friendship with Jenna.”
New School Year, New Headmaster, Same Old Addams Problems
The new trailer confirms that Nevermore Academy has a new principal: Barry Dort, played by Steve Buscemi. Dort brings a very different energy to the school, according to co-creator Alfred Gough: “The thing that Principal Dort brings to the school is the idea of outcast pride.”
And with Enid in danger and her powers acting up — visions that bring black tears and unpredictable results — Wednesday’s usual sense of certainty may be her undoing. “Wednesday’s biggest Achilles heel is certainty,” Gough said. “She’s always very certain that she knows what’s right. And a lot of the time, that is not the case.”
A Family Reunion That’s Anything but Comforting
This season, Wednesday’s world gets even more complicated thanks to her increasingly involved family. Her younger brother Pugsley (Isaac Ordonez) is now a student at Nevermore — a development she’s less than thrilled about.
And then there’s Morticia (Catherine Zeta-Jones) and Gomez (Luis Guzmán), who now have even more reason to be on campus. The mother-daughter tension between Morticia and Wednesday hits new heights — quite literally, with fencing swords.
We’re also introduced to Morticia’s mother, Hester Frump — aka Grandmama — played by Joanna Lumley. Millar said, “At the top of our list was Joanna Lumley.” Lumley herself remarked, “The world that they’ve created here, it looks sensational. It’s gothic, sometimes quite bone-chilling, but it’s kind of playful.”
Lady Gaga, New Characters, and a Bigger Story
Lady Gaga is confirmed to guest star as Rosaline Rotwood, a legendary Nevermore teacher, appearing in Part 2. Other newcomers this season include Billie Piper, Owen Painter, Evie Templeton, and Noah B. Taylor, with guest stars such as Thandiwe Newton, Christopher Lloyd, Frances O’Connor, and Haley Joel Osment joining the cast.
As for what’s in store, co-showrunners Alfred Gough and Miles Millar summarised it best: “This season, Wednesday’s journey is darker and more complex as she navigates family, friends, new mysteries, and old adversaries, propelling her headlong into another year at Nevermore.”
When and Where to Watch ‘Wednesday’ Season 2
Season 2 of Wednesday will be released in two parts on Netflix. Part 1 premieres on August 6, followed by Part 2 on September 3.
