Will Arnett, known for playing Gob Bluth in Arrested Development and for voicing Batman in The Lego Movie, will be leading an upcoming comedy series for Netflix.
The streaming service has officially ordered Flaked, an eight episode series co-created and co-written by Arnett and Mark Chappell (The Increasingly Poor Decisions of Todd Margaret).
According to Netflix:
Set in the insular world of Venice, California, Flaked is the serio-comic story of a self-appointed “guru” who falls for the object of his best friend’s fascination. Soon the tangled web of half-truths and semi-bullshit that underpins his all-important image and sobriety begins to unravel. Arnett plays Chip, a man doing his honest best to stay one step ahead of his own lies.
“We’re very excited to partner with Netflix– the home of original, original content — and the network I knew would be the ideal home for this passion project,” Arnett said in a press release.
Arnett, who was recently seen in Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles, will also be on board as an executive producer, alongside Ben Silverman (Founder and Chairman of Electus), Peter Principato and Mitch Hurwitz (Arrested Development).
Netflix and Arnett have obviously created a bond by now, after the company took on Arrested Development‘s fourth season and Arnett picked up a voicing gig as the titular character on Netflix’s animated comedy series, BoJack Horseman.
Flaked is set to premiere on Netflix sometime in 2016.
