‘Wine Country’ Trailer: Netflix Comedy Takes Amy Poehler, Tina Fey & More On a Getaway

Netflix

Netflix has released the official trailer for Wine Country, an upcoming comedy boasting a cast that includes Amy Poehler, Maya Rudulph, Tina Fey and more.

Inspired by real-life group trips taken by SNL alumnae, including director/producer/star Poehler and co-star Rudolph, Wine Country follows a group of longtime friends as they head on a getaway in honour of one their 50th birthdays.

It’s going to be interesting to see how Poehler fares behind the camera as director. It looks like a charming little comedy, with a great cast of funny women that should make for an amiable watch. It’s a female-strong affair; the screenplay comes from The Last Man on Earth and SNL scribes Liz Cackowski and Emily Spivey, editor is Julie Monroe (Mud, Midnight Special, Loving), and the score comes from Lisa Coleman (Heroes, Nurse Jackie).

Wine Country, also starring Rachel Dratch, Ana Gasteyer, Paula Pell, Emily Spivey, and Jason Schwartzman, hits Netflix on May 10.

Official synopsis for Wine Country:

In honor of Rebecca’s (Rachel Dratch) 50th birthday, Abby (Amy Poehler) plans a scenic Napa getaway with their best, longtime friends. Workaholic Catherine (Ana Gasteyer), post-op Val (Paula Pell), homebody Jenny (Emily Spivey), and weary mom Naomi (Maya Rudolph) are equally sold on the chance to relax and reconnect. Yet as the alcohol flows, real world uncertainties intrude on the punchlines and gossip, and the women begin questioning their friendships and futures. A hilarious and heartfelt comedy directed by Amy Poehler, Wine Country co-stars Tina Fey, Jason Schwartzman and Cherry Jones.
