News broke in September that Loki and Scarlet Witch would each be getting their own limited live-action series on the service, with stars Tom Hiddleston and Elizabeth Olsen reprising their MCU roles. Well, you can now potentially add Bucky Barnes, aka Winter Soldier, and Sam Wilson, aka Falcon, to the line up.
According to Variety, the two characters will be teaming up for a potential limited series to be written by Malcolm Spellman, known as a producer and writer of Fox series Empire. This Falcon/Winter Soldier project is the first potential limited series heading to Disney’s streaming service to receive a writer. Marvel and Disney are yet to comment.
So far, that’s four MCU characters in three Marvel shows heading to the service. And in no way a coincidence, Marvel’s Netflix shows have been dwindling; Iron Fist and Luke Cage, which lasted two season each, were both cancelled in October. Daredevil recently dropped its acclaimed third season, Jessica Jones has been renewed for season 3, and The Punisher received its season 2 renewal last December.
The Disney service’s Marvel shows are expected to be around six to eight-episode runs. Marvel Studios and Kevin Feige will be producing, with budgets reportedly set to be higher than other Marvel shows.
Exciting stuff. Stay tuned.
