Paramount has a potential franchise starter on the way here, and they’ve got themselves two Fantastic Four actors to star.
Jamie Bell has entered final negotiations to star with Michael B. Jordan in Without Remorse, based on the 1993 novel by the late Tom Clancy. As reported by Variety, Bell be will starring as CIA deputy director of operations Robert Ritter, a character that was featured in a number of Clancy’s novels and was played by Henry Czerny in the Harrison Ford-starring Clear and Present Danger.
Jordan will be starring as the film’s protagonist, John Terrence Kelly (aka operations officer John Clark), a former Navy SEAL who goes to work for the CIA. Paramount plans to have Jordan be the star of a franchise set around the character, and have already given the green light for him to lead the Rainbow Six film, which is scheduled to go into production sometime in 2019. Since John Terrence Kelly has popped up in 17 Clancy book, it’s fair to say that they’ve got plenty to mine if things go well here.
Set to direct Without Remorse is Stefano Sollima, who made his English-language feature debut with the sequel Sicario: Day of the Soldado. His previous credits include Italian crime drama Suburra and the Gomorrah series. The screenplay will come from Oscar-nominated writer Taylor Sheridan, writer of Sicario and its aforementioned sequel, Wind River and Hell or High Water.
Without Remorse is scheduled for US release on September 18, 2020.
Jordan will soon be seen in the true story drama Just Mercy and Bell has signed up to join the cast of drama The Chain, based on a novel by Tobias Wolff.
