‘Wolverine 3’ Casts ‘Narcos’ Star Boyd Holbrook as Villain

Boyd Holbrook - wolverine 3

Get ready to start seeing a whole lot more of actor Boyd Holbrook.

Holbrook, who put in a strong performance in Netflix series Narcos, has landed the role of lead villain in the upcoming Wolverine picture. Deadline broke the news, reporting that Holbrook will be playing “a relentless, calculating and intense head of security for a global enterprise” who wants to take down Hugh Jackman’s clawed hero.

This next Wolverine picture will be a major chapter in Jackman’s 16-year run playing the character. The actor has said that this still-untitled Wolverine sequel will be his last outing as the mutant, so one could imagine that he’ll be wanting a strong picture to go out on.

Jackman is reteaming with The Wolverine director James Mangold for the film, which is heading into production next month for release on March 3, 2017.

Holbrook has quite a few projects on the horizon, such as roles in Terrence Malick’s Weightless and sci-fi thriller Morgan, the latter of which also stars Kate Mara and Paul Giamatti. He’ll also be reprising his role as Agent Steve Murphy in Narcos‘ second season, set to hit Netflix later this year.
