Nicole Kidman could have a key role to play in the female-led superhero film, Wonder Woman.
Although her exact part hasn’t been revealed as yet, The Wrap is reporting that the Academy Award winner has entered negotiations to play “a high-ranking Amazonian warrior.” The character that comes to mind is that of Hyppoleta, the Queen of the Amazons that also happens to be the mother of Dianna Prince, aka Wonder Woman.
It’s mostly speculation doing the rounds at the moment, so hopefully Warner Bros. has something to announce soon.
If cast, Kidman will be joining a cast that includes Gal Gadot as the titular heroine and Chris Pine as her love interest, Steve Trevor.
Patty Jenkins is at the helm of the picture, which will mark the first superhero film in the recent wave of hero-focused blockbusters to be directed by a woman. Jenkins has mostly stuck to television since her well-received feauture directing debut, the Charlize Theron-starring Monster. Her credits include directing episodes of Entourage and The Killing.
We’ll be meeting Gadot’s Wonder Woman in Zack Snyder’s Batman v Superman: Dawn of Justice, out in the U.S. on 25 March 2016, before her solo outing hits on 23 June 2017.
