Multi-hyphenate wrestler turned worldwide superstar Dwayne ‘The Rock’ Johnson is offering a look at his real-life origins story in the upcoming sitcom series Young Rock.
Johnson has unveiled the first teaser trailer for the series, which will tell Johnson’s story of growing up, from his school days, to being surrounded by a professional wrestling family, to playing football at the University of Miami, and with all the larger-than-life characters he met along the way.
The 11-episode series will have Adrian Groulx playing 10-year-old Dwayne, Bradley Constant playing high school Dwayne, and Uli Latukefu as college Dwayne. Plus, Johnson himself will be appearing in every ep. Joseph Lee Anderson plays his late father, wrestler Rocky Johnson, and Stacey Leilua plays his mother, Ata Johnson.
“I wish my dad was around to see,” Johnson shared on social media, talking about his father who passed away in January 2020. “Maaaaan he would’ve been proud.”
Young Rock is set to premiere on NBC on February 16th.
