Prime Video has dropped the teaser trailer for Young Sherlock, with Guy Ritchie steering this new origin-story spin on the world’s most famous detective. Watch the teaser above, then read on for what it’s setting up.
A raw, unruly Sherlock takes shape
Set in 1870s Oxford, Young Sherlock introduces Sherlock Holmes before the legend hardens. Hero Fiennes Tiffin (After film series, The Ministry of Ungentlemanly Warfare) plays him as a disgraced teenager, brilliant but impulsive, still figuring out how to aim that brain of his without detonating everything around him.

The teaser frames his first real case as more than a rite of passage. A murder investigation threatens his freedom, and the deeper he digs, the wider the trouble spreads, into a conspiracy that pushes him beyond Oxford and forces him to grow up fast.
Guy Ritchie brings pace to the mystery
Ritchie directs the first two episodes and serves as an executive producer, and his fingerprints are all over the teaser. There’s a kinetic edge and a sense of playful irreverence that, unsurprisingly, brings to mind Ritchie’s earlier Sherlock Holmes films with Robert Downey Jr.
The series was created for television by Matthew Parkhill (Hotel Costiera, Deep State), who also serves as showrunner and executive producer.
Cast and characters
Alongside Fiennes Tiffin, the cast includes Dónal Finn as James Moriarty, Zine Tseng as Princess Gulun Shou’an, Joseph Fiennes as Silas Holmes, Natascha McElhone as Cordelia Holmes, Max Irons as Mycroft Holmes, and Colin Firth as Sir Bucephalus Hodge.
Release date
All eight episodes of Young Sherlock will premiere on Prime Video on March 4, 2026.
