The official teaser trailer has arrived for Your Mother Your Mother Your Mother, an upcoming action thriller starring Mahershala Ali as a devout hitman forced into a brutal fight for survival. From writer-director Bassam Tariq (Mogul Mowgli), the film looks like a bloody, blade-heavy showcase for Ali — with a very interesting bit of unfinished Blade business behind the scenes. Your Mother Your Mother Your Mother Trailer Puts Mahershala Ali Through Hell
The teaser introduces Ali as Latif, a deeply religious hitman trying to reconcile his violent work with his faith and his responsibilities as a father. When his wife dies, Latif is forced into a desperate journey across Houston to protect his children, with dangerous forces closing in and his own beliefs beginning to fracture.

Amazon MGM Studios and Orion Pictures are billing the film as a genre-bending action drama, and the teaser certainly leans into the harder-edged side of that description. There are glimpses of Ali slicing his way through attackers (including John Cho), pushing through grief and rage, and carrying the kind of coiled intensity that has long made him such a magnetic screen presence.
The Bassam Tariq and Mahershala Ali Reunion Has a Blade Connection
There is also a notable behind-the-scenes angle here. Tariq was previously attached to direct Ali in Marvel Studios’ long-gestating Blade reboot, with the filmmaker joining the project in 2021 before exiting in 2022 amid production shifts and reported creative differences.
That Marvel film has since become one of the MCU’s more famously stalled titles, but Your Mother Your Mother Your Mother finally gives Tariq and Ali their collaboration — and, judging by this teaser, it has no shortage of blades of its own.

Cast and Release Date
Alongside Ali, the supporting cast includes John Cho, Giancarlo Esposito, Abubakr Ali, Laith Nakli, Tramell Tillman, Tiffany Boone, Adia and Jahleel Kamara.
The film is produced by Tariq, Lucan Toh and Babak Anvari, with Two & Two Pictures also behind the project.
Your Mother Your Mother Your Mother opens in select U.S. cinemas, including New York and Los Angeles, on September 25, 2026, before expanding in October.
