Zachary Quinto, known for playing Spock in the recent Star Trek reboot, will be in Hannibal‘s upcoming third season.
EW broke the news, reporting that Quinto “will appear in at least one episode.” He’ll be playing a patient of Bedelia’s, the character played by Gillian Anderson. Anderson, by the way, has been made a full-time cast member for the third chapter.
There’s no word as to what Quinto’s role will be, but we’re hoping that he’ll be delivering us another of the show’s many sick puppies. He’s a great actor, and we’d love to see him play a disturbed genius keeping Bedelia on her toes.
Hannibal creator Bryan Fuller was a writer on Heroes, which pushed Quinto into the spotlight in the role of Sylar.
The third season of Hannibal is shaping up nicely. Apart from Anderson’s full-time upgrade, The Hobbit trilogy’s Richard Armitage has been cast as The Tooth Fairy, the twisted killer from Thomas Harris’ Red Dragon source-novel. Also of note, in case you missed it when we reported on it, was the new Joe Anderson was replacing Michael Pitt as the disturbed – and now physically different – Mason Verger.
