Zoe Saldana is lined up to star as a black-ops assassin in the action thriller Hummingbird.
Set to be taken to the European Film Market in Berlin next week, the project stems from a Black List script (the “most liked” motion picture screenplays not yet produced in Hollywood) by John McClain, who looks to have his first breakthrough here.
The film will see Saldana playing a female black-ops assassin whose latest mark forces her to confront her true identity. No further plot details have been released at this time.
Attached to direct are Marcus Kryler and Fredrik Åkerström, up and comers known for their work directing the cinematic content for Electronic Arts video game Battlefield 1. The pair also wrote and directed an intriguing, trippy sci-fi short, Reset, which you can watch fully below.
Fundamental Films is financing and producing Hummingbird alongside Broken Road Productions.
Saldana will next be seen reprising her role as Gamora in Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 2, which will arrive in Australia on April 25 and opens in the US on May 5. The actress will also have a role in I Kill Giants, a fantasy-thriller based on the acclaimed graphic novel by Joe Kelly and J. M. Ken Niimura.
