Netflix has unveiled the final full-length trailer for their big upcoming sci-fi series 3 Body Problem – and it looks like a doozy of heady show. Take a look above.

Based on the internationally celebrated bestseller trilogy by Chinese science fiction author Liu Cixin, 3 Body Problem tells of what reverberates across space and time following a young woman’s fateful decision in 1960s China, leading us to a group of brilliant scientists in the present day. As the laws of nature unravel before their eyes, five former colleagues reunite to confront the greatest threat in humanity’s history.

The series comes from Game of Thrones creators David Benioff & D.B. Weiss, as well as Emmy-nominated writer-producer Alexander Woo (The Terror: Infamy, True Blood), all serving as co-creators, executive producers and writers of the series. A big-name executive producer team, including Rian Johnson (Knives Out) via T-Street Productions, Brad Pitt via Plan B Entertainment, and Rosamund Pike via Primitive Streak, among many others.

Quite a large cast here too, including Jovan Adepo, John Bradley, Benedict Wong, Jonathan Pryce, Rosalind Chao, Liam Cunningham, Eiza González, Jess Hong, Marlo Kelly, Alex Sharp, Sea Shimooka, Zine Tseng, and Saamer Usmani.

While it may be based on a beloved book property, it appears that you won’t have to be well versed with the literature to understand or appreciate the series.

“We like the same things about the books that so many other fans do,” Weiss told Netflix. “We’re doing everything in our power to bring this story to life in the best, most impactful way possible. But reading the books is not a prerequisite for understanding or enjoying the show.”

Benioff echoed the sentiment, saying, “We have a tremendous love and respect for the books. You can’t devote every waking moment of your life for years on end to adapt a piece of work that you don’t love. So it’s very important to us that the show stand on its own two legs and work for people who have read the books — and for people who haven’t read the books.”

All eight 1-hour episodes of 3 Body Problem will be streaming on Netflix from March 21st.
