Searchlight Pictures has released the official teaser for the forthcoming biopic, A Complete Unknown, with Timothée Chalamet portraying legendary musician Bob Dylan.

Set against the backdrop of New York’s transformative music scene of the early 1960s, A Complete Unknown chronicles the rapid ascent of a 19-year-old artist from Minnesota, a young man named Bob Dylan. The film charts his journey from a budding folk singer to a chart-topping sensation, with songs and an enigmatic persona that captivated audiences worldwide. The narrative reaches its climax with Dylan’s revolutionary electric performance at the 1965 Newport Folk Festival.

The film is helmed by James Mangold, the director known for Johnny Cash biopic Walk the Line, Logan, and Ford v Ferrari. Mangold also co-wrote the screenplay with Jay Cocks, the Oscar-nominated writer known for his collaborations with Martin Scorsese on The Age of Innocence, Gangs of New York, and Silence.

The impressive ensemble cast features Edward Norton as Pete Seeger, Elle Fanning as Sylvie Russo, Monica Barbaro as Joan Baez, Boyd Holbrook as Johnny Cash, Dan Fogler as Albert Grossman, Norbert Leo Butz as Alan Lomax, Scoot McNairy as Woody Guthrie, and P. J. Byrne as Harold Leventhal, among others.

A Complete Unknown is lined up for a theatrical release in the US and UK in December. The film’s Australian release date has not yet been announced.
