The official teaser trailer has been unveiled for the next chapter in the Alien franchise, Alien: Romulus. Watch the trailer above and take a look at the film’s first poster below.

Returning to the roots of the franchise, Alien: Romulus plunges viewers into the eerie corridors of a derelict space station, where a group of intrepid young space colonizers stumbles upon a nightmare beyond imagination.

The ensemble cast includes Cailee Spaeny (Priscilla), David Jonsson (Agatha Christie’s Murder is Easy), Archie Renaux (Shadow and Bone), Isabela Merced (Dora and the Lost City of Gold), Spike Fearn (Aftersun), and Aileen Wu.

The latest addition to the iconic sci-fi horror franchise is directed by Fede Alvarez, known for Evil Dead and Don’t Breathe. Alvarez penned the screenplay with frequent collaborator Rodo Sayagues, the pair drawing inspiration from the rich mythology of the Alien universe created by Dan O’Bannon and Ronald Shusett. Ridley Scott, who directed the first Alien film that started it all and helmed the two most recent chapters, Prometheus and Alien: Covenant, produces the film alongside Michael Pruss and Walter Hill.

The behind-the-scenes team also includes cinematographer Galo Olivares (Gretel & Hansel) and composer Benjamin Wallfisch (Blade Runner 2049).

Alien: Romulus is set to hit Australian cinemas on August 15th and US cinemas on August 16th.
