Marvel Studios has unleashed an exhilarating teaser trailer for Captain America: Brave New World, providing an exciting first look at Sam Wilson’s new mission in what will be the 35th film in the Marvel Cinematic Universe. Anthony Mackie returns as the soaring hero, now officially donning the Captain America mantle.

As the trailer reveals, a trip to the White House is in order for Wilson, in order meet the newly-elected U.S. President, Thaddeus Ross. This role marks Harrison Ford’s debut in the Marvel Cinematic Universe, taking over from the late William Hurt. Fans will recall the complex history between Ross and Sam, dating back to Captain America: Civil War, where Ross, then Secretary of State, arrested Sam and the Avengers. Now, as president, Ross seeks to appoint Sam as an official military Captain America.

This fragile alliance is tested when Sam is drawn into an international crisis, with the retired super-soldier Isaiah Bradley (Carl Lumbly) becoming the prime suspect. Sam’s perilous investigation culminates in a lethal confrontation, with a thrilling tease of the menacing Red Hulk.

The cast includes Danny Ramirez as Joaquin Torres, the new Falcon; Tim Blake Nelson as Samuel Sterns, AKA The Leader, making his return since The Incredible Hulk (2008); Shira Haas as Ruth Bat-Seraph, a former Black Widow turned high-ranking U.S. official; Giancarlo Esposito as a still-undisclosed villain; and Liv Tyler, reprising her Incredible Hulk role as Betty Ross, a cellular biologist and Thaddeus’s daughter.

Directed by Julius Onah, whose previous feature credits include The Cloverfield Paradox, Luce, and The Girl is in Trouble. The screenplay was written by The Falcon and the Winter Soldier creator Malcolm Spellman and staff writer Dalan Musson, and Moon Knight scribe Matthew Orton.

Captain America: Brave New World will be opening in Australian cinemas on February 13th and US cinemas on February 14th.
