‘Castlevania: Nocturne’ Season 2 Trailer: Dracula’s Son Returns in Second Chapter of Netflix’s Gothic Animated Series

Netflix has unveiled the official trailer for Castlevania: Nocturne season 2, teasing what looks like an intense continuation of the horror-gothic saga. Take a look at the trailer above.

Season 2 picks up where the first left off, following Richter Belmont (voiced by Edward Bluemel) and his allies as they regroup in their battle against Erzsébet Báthory, the Vampire Messiah. Having barely survived the events of Season 1, the characters face new challenges as Erzsébet inches closer to achieving the ultimate power of the goddess Sekhmet, a force that could plunge the world into eternal darkness.

Richter is joined by returning characters Maria (Pixie Davies), Annette (Thuso Mbedu), Edouard (Sydney James Harcourt), and Tera (Nastassja Kinski), all of whom have been transformed by their harrowing encounters. Their mission becomes even more urgent with the arrival of Alucard (James Callis), the half-vampire son of Dracula. His presence shakes up the group dynamic as he reluctantly takes on the role of mentor. “Alucard is going to lead Richter and Annette to Paris to try and find the last element that would allow Erzsébet to achieve the full power of Sekhmet and become even more powerful than she was in Season 1,” showrunner Kevin Kolde told Netflix site Tudum.

Kolde also shed light on Annette’s inner turmoil. “[Annette’s] being haunted by these images and spirits, and she’s trying to understand what’s going on,” Kolde explained. “[If] she can figure out how to communicate with them the right way, to calm herself to listen, [she’ll realise] they’re really trying to communicate with her what she needs to do for her role in stopping Erzsébet.”

The second chapter promises heightened stakes and deepening character dynamics, plus, what Kolde called “the biggest, craziest Castlevania fight scene ever.” Hell yeah.

Castlevania: Nocturne season 2 premieres on Netflix on 16 January 2025.
