Check out the official teaser trailer that’s arrived for Chicken Run: Dawn of the Nugget, Netflix‘s upcoming stop-motion animated sequel to 2000’s Chicken Run. Yep, it has somehow been over two decades since that first film, which, by the way, remains the highest-grossing stop-motion animated film of all time.

What is Chicken Run: Dawn of the Nugget‘s plot? Here’s Netflix’s official synopsis:

Having pulled off a death-defying escape from Tweedy’s farm, Ginger has finally found her dream — a peaceful island sanctuary for the whole flock, far from the dangers of the human world. When she and Rocky hatch a little girl called Molly, Ginger’s happy ending seems complete. But back on the mainland the whole of chicken-kind faces a new and terrible threat. For Ginger and her team, even if it means putting their own hard-won freedom at risk — this time, they’re breaking in!

Who’s in the voice cast?

The voice cast includes Thandiwe Newton as Ginger (Julia Sawalha voiced the character in the first film), Zachary Levi as Rocky (who was voiced by Mel Gibson the first time around), The Last of Us star Bella Ramsey, Jane Horrocks, Imelda Staunton, Lynn Ferguson, Josie Sedgwick-Davis, David Bradley, Daniel Mays, Romesh Ranganathan, Miranda Richardson, Peter Serafinowicz, and Nick Mohammed.

Who directed and wrote Chicken Run: Dawn of the Nugget?

The film was directed by Academy Award and BAFTA-nominated director Sam Fell, whose credits include Flushed Away, The Tale of Despereaux, and ParaNorman. The screenplay was written by Karey Kirkpatrick (Chicken Run, Over the Hedge), John O’Farrell and Rachel Tunnard (Military Wives), from an original story by Kirkpatrick and O’Farrell.

When will Chicken Run: Dawn of the Nugget be released?

The Aardman Animations, Pathé and StudioCanal-produced film will be streaming on Netflix from December 15th.
