The trailer has arrived for Creed III, the third film following Michael B. Jordan’s boxing champ, Adonis Creed.

Chapter three finds Adonis in for another major fight – this time against a once-close friend, Damian (Jonathan Majors, Lovecraft Country, Loki), who we learn went to jail and left Adonis taking on a path Damian believes was meant for him. Sylvester Stallone’s Rocky Balboa is notably absent from the trailer and Stallone is not in the cast credits, so it looks like this will be the first film in the overall franchise without the man that started it all.

It’s certainly a big chapter for Jordan, seeing as this marks his directorial debut. Pulling double duty as director and star is no easy feat; fingers crossed he aces it at the helm, too. The screenplay comes from Zach Baylin (King Richard) and Keenan Coogler (Space Jam: A New Legacy), from a story by Creed and Black Panther director Ryan Coogler.

Creed III, also starring Tessa Thompson, Wood Harris, Florian Munteanu, Mila Kent and Phylicia Rashad, will arrive in Australian cinemas on March 2nd and opens in U.S. cinemas on March 3rd, 2023.
