Warner Bros. has released a big new trailer for Fantastic Beasts: The Secrets of Dumbledore, unveiling a good amount of new footage from the eleventh film in the Wizarding World franchise that kicked off with Harry Potter and the Philosopher’s Stone way back in 2001.

The next chapter finds powerful Dark wizard Gellert Grindelwald (played by Mads Mikkelsen, who was brought in to replace Johnny Depp) moving to seize control of the wizarding world. Professor Albus Dumbledore (Jude Law), knowing he can’t take down Grindelwald alone, entrusts Magizoologist Newt Scamander (Eddie Redmayne) to lead an intrepid team of wizards, witches and one brave Muggle baker (Dan Fogler) on a dangerous mission. Their journey leads them to old and new beasts, and headfirst into Grindelwald’s growing legion of followers. One thing remains clear: Dumbledore can’t remain on the sidelines for long.

A big-looking adventure teased below, with grand visual effects and plenty of dramatic beats for fans. Depp fans will no doubt still be upset that he was let go from the franchise, but Mikkelsen is certainly a valuable addition to have. We’ll see if the crowds flock to Fantastic Beasts 3 following the mediocre reviews given to its predecessor, Fantastic Beasts: The Crimes of Grindelwald, which nevertheless still performed well internationally with an overall draw of $US654 million from a budget of $US200 million.

Franchise director David Yates continues at the helm, working from a screenplay by Harry Potter author J.K. Rowling & franchise scribe Steve Kloves. The cast also includes Ezra Miller, Alison Sudol, William Nadylam, Callum Turner, Jessica Williams, Victoria Yeates, Poppy Corby-Tuech, Fiona Glascott, Katherine Waterston, Maria Fernanda Cândido, Richard Coyle, Oliver Masucci, and Valerie Pachner.

Fantastic Beasts: The Secrets of Dumbledore will be released in Australian cinemas on April 7th and U.S. cinemas on April 15th.
