Universal Pictures has dropped an action-packed new trailer for Fast X, the eleventh film in the action-franchise (including Hobbs & Shaw) that began twenty-two years ago with The Fast and the Furious.

Fast X, which is to be the penultimate main installment in the “Fast & Furious Saga”, will see Dom Toretto (Vin Diesel) and his family facing a new villain who’s been planning revenge for the past 12 years. The new big bad is Dante (Jason Momoa), the sun of nefarious Brazilian drug kingpin Hernan Reyes, who was taken out by Dom and his crew in 2011’s Fast Five. Dante’s plot will scatter Dom’s family from Los Angeles to the catacombs of Rome, from Brazil to London and from Portugal to Antarctica. New allies will be forged and old enemies will resurface. But everything changes when Dom discovers that his own 8-year-old son (Leo Abelo Perry, Black-ish) is the ultimate target of Dante’s vengeance.

An absolutely ginormous cast for this one. Michelle Rodriguez, Tyrese Gibson, Chris “Ludacris” Bridges, Nathalie Emmanuel, Jordana Brewster, John Cena, Jason Statham, Sung Kang, Helen Mirren, Scott Eastwood and Charlize Theron are among those returning. Brie Larson, Alan Ritchson, Daniela Melchior, and Rita Moreno are among the newcomers.

The film is directed by Louis Leterrier, whose credits include The Transporter, Now You See Me, The Incredible Hulk and Clash of the Titans. The screenplay was penned by Justin Lin (who directed five films in the franchise) and Dan Mazeau (Wrath of the Titans).

Fast X will be in Australian cinemas on May 18th and U.S. cinemas on May 19th.
