Chris Pratt is back for seconds — and yes, it involves pizza. The actor has officially confirmed that Garfield 2 is in the works, with Alcon Entertainment and Sony Pictures moving ahead on a sequel to The Garfield Movie.
Pratt confirmed Garfield 2 is officially happening with a playful video on social media. Walking in with pizza boxes, he opens one to reveal “Garfield 2” written in sauce. “Oh wait, who ordered this?” he asks, before turning to the camera: “You did.”

As confirmed by Deadline, Pratt will once again voice the lasagna-loving feline and also serve as a producer on the project. The sequel is being developed by Alcon Entertainment and will be distributed by Sony Pictures (excluding China), just like the original.
The first Garfield film, released in May 2024, wasn’t exactly a critical darling. The film scored a 37% from critics on Rotten Tomatoes, although general audiences were far more receptive, awarding it a 79% audience score. A major factor: the film performed well at the box office, earning over US$234 million on a reported US$60 million budget.
Jim Davis, creator of the original comic strip, is returning as executive producer, along with Bridget McMeel from Amuse. Also on the producing team are Alcon’s Andrew Kosove and Broderick Johnson, John Cohen (Despicable Me), Steven P. Wegner, and Namit Malhotra of Prime Focus Studios, which will once again team with DNEG Animation to bring the world of Garfield to life.
Writers and a director are still being locked in, with casting details to come.

With over 8 billion toys sold and a fan base spanning generations, the famously lazy orange cat continues to prove he’s got staying power — even if he’d rather nap than admit it.
