Take a look at the trailer for upcoming miniseries George & Tammy, starring Jessica Chastain and Michael Shannon as country music power couple, Tammy Wynette and George Jones.

The series chronicles the couple’s complicated-but-enduring relationship, which served as inspiration for some of the most iconic music of all time. Remembered as the “First Lady of Country Music,” Wynette’s most successful song “Stand by Your Man” remains one of the most iconic and best-selling country singles by a female artist. Known for his once-in-a-lifetime voice, George Jones’ song “He Stopped Loving Her Today,” is still widely called the greatest country song of all time. With over 30 number-one country songs between them, including duets “We’re Gonna Hold On,” “Golden Ring” and “Near You,” George and Tammy’s legacy, both musically and romantically, remains one of the greatest love stories ever told.

George & Tammy is based on the book “The Three of Us: Growing Up with Tammy and George” by the couple’s daughter, Georgette Jones. The series was created by Abe Sylvia (writer of recent Chastain-starring biopic The Eyes of Tammy Faye) and directed by Australian filmmaker John Hillcoat, known for The Road and The Proposition. Walton Goggins, Kelly McCormack, Steven Zahn, David Wilson Barnes, and Katy Mixon also star.

The premiere episode will debut simultaneously on Showtime and on the Paramount Network on December 4th.
