‘God’s Favourite Idiot’ Trailer: Melissa McCarthy & Ben Falcone are Devine Tools in Netflix Comedy Series

Take a look at the trailer Netflix has released for God’s Favourite Idiot, a comedy series from husband and wife team Ben Falcone and Melissa McCarthy, whose previous collaborations include The Boss, Life of the Party, Superintelligence, and Thunder Force.

Falcone plays mid-level tech support employee Clark Thompson, whose life takes quite the turn after a lightning strike leaves him glowing. As it turns out, this was no freak accident. God has chosen Clark to play a pivotal role in saving the world from an impending apocalypse. He can’t do it alone. Clark gathers the help of his longtime crush Amily (McCarthy), mismatched co-workers, and angelic allies to outwit Satan herself, played by Leslie Bibb.

Falcone, creator of the series, serves as executive producer alongside McCarthy and Michael McDonald (Brooklyn Nine-Nine), the latter of whom directed the episodes. The series was shot in NSW in 2021, with an original plan to shoot sixteen episodes. Netflix chose to stop production at eight, 30-minute episodes, with word that the other eight could be filmed sometime later.

God’s Favorite Idiot, also starring Usman Ally, Steve Mallory, Chris Sandiford, Ana Scotney, and Yanic Truesdale, will be streaming on Netflix from June 15th.
