A “date announcement” teaser trailer has been released for upcoming Australian Netflix series Heartbreak High, a reimagining of the 90s Aussie YA series of the same name… which was a spinoff of the 1994 film The Heartbreak Kid… which was based on a 1987 stage play of the same name.

A discovery makes Amerie (played by Ayesha Madon) an instant pariah at Hartley High, and causes a mysterious and very public rift with her ride-or-die Harper (Asher Yasbincek, The Wilds). With her new friends – outsiders Quinni (Chloe Hayden) and Darren (James Majoos) – Amerie must repair her reputation, while navigating love, sex, and heartbreak.

Created by Hannah Carroll Chapman (The Heights), with Chris Oliver Taylor (Glitch) and Carly Heaton (The End) serving as executive producers, Sarah Freeman (Why Are You Like This) as producer, and Anna Curtis (Back to the Rafters) as associate producer.

The original series ran for seven seasons and was broadcast in over 70 countries including the UK, US, Germany, Argentina, Mexico, India and Indonesia.

The eight-episode new Heartbreak High will premiere globally on Netflix on September 14th.
