The trailer has arrived for upcoming Netflix action film Interceptor, an Australian-U.S. co-production led by Elsa Pataky and executive produced by Chris Hemsworth, Pataky’s real-life husband.
The plot follows tough and reality-bruised Captain JJ Collins (Pataky), who, after being wrongfully pushed away from her Pentagon dream job, is placed in charge of a nuclear missile interceptor base located in the middle of the Pacific Ocean. She’s in for one hell of a gig. When former US military intelligence officer Alexander Kessel (Luke Bracey) and his covert mercenaries arrive at the base with an unthinkable plan, Collins must utilise her years of tactical training and military expertise to determine who she can trust and stop Kessel and his team from completing their twisted and terrible mission.
This NSW-shot actioner marks the directorial debut for successful Australian author Matthew Reilly, who co-wrote the screenplay with Stuart Beattie (Pirates of the Caribbean: The Curse of the Black Pearl, Collateral, Obi-Wan Kenobi), also a producer on the film. The behind-the-scenes team includes stuntman-turned-Extraction director Sam Hargrave as an action consultant and Aussie cinematographer Ross Emery (The Wolverine, Raised by Wolves).
Interceptor, also starring Aaron Glenane, Mayen Mehta, Rhys Muldoon, Belinda Jombwe, Marcus Johnson, Colin Friels, and Zoe Carides, will be hitting select Australian cinemas on May 26th before hitting Netflix on June 3rd.
