Actor Kit Harington, who famously portrayed Jon Snow in the hit series Game of Thrones, recently shared his thoughts on the show’s much-derided finale. In an interview with GQ, Harington opened up about the challenges the cast and crew faced during the final season and acknowledged some of the criticisms directed at the show’s conclusion.

“I think if there was any fault with the end of Thrones, is that we were all so f**king tired, we couldn’t have gone on longer,” Harington revealed. “And so I understand some people thought it was rushed and I might agree with them. But I’m not sure there was any alternative.” He candidly discussed the physical and emotional toll the demanding schedule took on everyone involved, adding, “I look at pictures of me in that final season and I look exhausted. I look spent. I didn’t have another season in me.”

Addressing the backlash to the final episode, Harington was somewhat diplomatic, but still recognised some of the ending’s shortcomings. “Everyone is entitled to their opinion,” he said. “I think there were mistakes made, story-wise, towards the end maybe. I think there were some interesting choices that didn’t quite work.”.

The series finale of Game of Thrones sparked widespread debate among fans and critics alike, with many feeling that the story was rushed and certain plot points were not satisfactorily resolved. On IMDb, for example, the final episode, titled The Iron Throne, has an audience score of 4 out of 10, with over 265 thousand votes. It’s the lowest-scored episode of the entire series.
