What is Maestro about?

Directed and co-written by Copper, the film chronicles the lifelong relationship between American composer Leonard Bernstein (West Side Story, On the Waterfront) and actress Felicia Montealegre Cohn Bernstein (Mulligan). As described by Netflix: “A love letter to life and art, Maestro at its core is an emotionally epic portrayal of family and love.”

Who stars in Maestro?

Apart from Cooper and Mulligan, the film’s cast includes Matt Bomer, Maya Hawke, Sarah Silverman, Josh Hamilton, Scott Ellis, Gideon Glick, Sam Nivola, Alexa Swinton, and Miriam Shor.

Who is in Maestro‘s talented behind-the-scenes team?

Apart from Cooper on both sides of the camera (directing his second feature following 2018’s A Star is Born), the screenplay was co-written by Josh Singer (Spotlight, The Post), the film’s cinematographer is Matthew Libatique (A Star is Born, Black Swan), editor is Michelle Tesoro (The Queen’s Gambit), and costume designer is Mark Bridges (The Artist, The Joker, Phantom Thread).

Impressively, the producing team includes Cooper, Steven Spielberg, and Martin Scorsese. Both Spielberg and Scorsese had previously considered directing the film before passing the baton on to Cooper.

When will Maestro be released?

Maestro will have a limited theatrical release in the U.S. on November 22nd before hitting Netflix on December 20th. The film will have its world premiere at the Venice Film Festival in September.
