Take a look at the red band trailer that’s been released for upcoming series Peacemaker, with John Cena reprising the titular DC Comics role he took to the screen in James Gunn‘s The Suicide Squad.

As the post-credit scene in that film unveiled, this guy doesn’t go down easy. The series is set after the wild events in the movie and finds Peacemaker, aka Christopher Smith, continuing on his path of enforcing the peace – no matter how many have to die to get it. When a new threat rises, he joins a new task force that includes Adebayo (Danielle Brooks), Vigilante (Freddie Stroma), Harcourt (Jennifer Holland), Economos (Steve Agee) and Murn (Chukwudi Iwuji). Robert Patrick stars as Auggie Smith, Peacemaker’s not-so-great father, who we heard a little about in the film.

Gunn created and wrote all eight episodes of this gleefully nutty-looking series. He also directed seven eps, while Brad Anderson (The Machinist, The Call) took the helm of one (episode seven).

Peacemaker will arrive with a three-episode premiere on Binge in Australia and HBO Max in the U.S. on January 13th, with the following five episodes dropping weekly.
