pitch perfect

Beca (Anna Kendrick), a university freshman, is convinced to join The Bellas, a singing group that is training to take part in an international a capella championship.

Anna Kendrick (Up In The Air, 50/50, End Of Watch) continues her climb up the Hollywood ladder with yet another impressive performance. She is likeable, witty and comes across as genuine. The entire cast does a great job in both the acting and singing departments. Australian comedian Rebel Wilson is definitely a stand-out. Her comic timing provides the movie with some of its funniest moments.

Yes, the plot is completely predictable and formulaic but the screenplay is fresh and witty enough to help the movie rise above the predictable material. It isn’t easy to make a feel good comedy these days but Pitch Perfect  succeeds. It isn’t gobsmackingly incredible but it manages to put a smile  on your dial with its contagious sense of humour and snappy script.

THE REEL SCORE: 7/10
