‘Pragmata’ Trailer Shows Off Capcom’s Sci-Fi Game: What to Know as Release Date Moves Up

Capcom has dropped the main trailer for its long-awaited sci-fi action adventure Pragmata, offering the clearest look yet at the lunar mystery, its dual-character gameplay, and how players will survive the station’s hostile machines. The studio also confirmed a small but welcome scheduling surprise: the game’s release date has been moved up by a week.

The new trailer arrives following Capcom’s latest Spotlight presentation and expands on the strange partnership at the centre of the game, spacefarer Hugh Williams and the enigmatic android Diana, as they attempt to escape a lunar research facility that has gone badly wrong.

Watch the trailer above, then read on for everything we know so far about Pragmata, including its updated release date, gameplay systems, and platforms.

What Is Pragmata About?

Set in the near future, Pragmata unfolds on a lunar research station dedicated to studying a mysterious material known as Lunafilament, a substance capable of replicating almost anything, provided its data exists.

After contact with the facility suddenly disappears, a response team is dispatched to investigate. Soon after arriving, a massive lunar quake devastates the station.

One of those responders, Hugh Williams, is left stranded, injured, and separated from his crew. His survival takes an unexpected turn when he is discovered by Diana, a mysterious android created using Lunafilament technology. The pair form an unlikely alliance as they attempt to navigate the hostile facility and find a way back to Earth.

Dual Gameplay: Hacking Meets Combat

One of Pragmata’s defining mechanics is the need to control both protagonists during encounters.

Enemy machines within the station are heavily armoured, meaning conventional attacks alone won’t be enough. Diana uses her hacking abilities to breach enemy systems, exposing weak points, while Hugh takes advantage of those openings with an arsenal of firearms.

The hacking system plays out as a puzzle-style interface where players guide a cursor across nodes to reach a target point and disable enemy defences. Successfully navigating the path exposes vulnerabilities and significantly boosts the damage Hugh can inflict.

Blue nodes enhance the hack’s effects, increasing damage and extending the vulnerability window, while yellow nodes can trigger special effects such as weakening multiple enemies at once. Players will need to decide quickly how much of the grid to navigate while under pressure.

Hugh can equip multiple weapon types, but many of the more powerful options break once their ammo runs out, meaning timing attacks alongside Diana’s hacking abilities becomes a key part of the combat rhythm.

A New Helper Robot: Cabin

The latest trailer also introduces a new character named Cabin, a helper robot that assists Hugh and Diana while they regroup inside their shelter.

Cabin appears to act as a kind of hub companion, offering services and activities between missions. One example shown in the trailer is Cabin’s Stamp Club, where players can exchange collectible Cabin Coins discovered during exploration for rewards using a slot-style board.

The shelter also includes features such as a jukebox to customise background music and an outfit storage system where players can change Hugh and Diana’s appearance as they unlock new cosmetic items.

Pragmata Release Date Moves Up

In a rare twist, Capcom has moved Pragmata’s release date forward rather than delaying it. The game will now release on April 17, 2026 — a week earlier than its previously announced April 24 date.

The updated launch applies to PlayStation 5, Xbox Series X|S, PC via Steam, and Nintendo Switch 2 in most regions. Some territories, including Japan and parts of Asia for the Switch 2 version, will still see the original April 24 release date.

Demo and Pre-Order Bonuses

Players eager to try the game early can already jump into a preview experience. A “Sketchbook Demo” is currently available for Xbox players, offering a first taste of the gameplay systems.

Capcom also confirmed that early purchasers will receive bonus cosmetics. Hugh will get a Neo Bushido outfit, while Diana will receive a Neo Kunoichi skin. The deluxe edition includes additional extras such as a weapon skin, music tracks for the Shelter hub area, digital artwork, and emotes for Diana.

Pragmata launches April 17, 2026 on PlayStation 5, Xbox Series X|S, PC via Steam, and Nintendo Switch 2.
