The plot takes viewers on a journey through the horrific murder that upends the Chicago Prosecuting Attorneys’ office when chief deputy prosecutor Rusty Sabich (played by Gyllenhaal) is suspected of the crime. The eight-part limited series hails from David E. Kelley (also showrunner) and executive producer J.J. Abrams and is based on The New York Times bestselling novel of the same name by Scott Turow. The novel was previously adapted for the big screen as a 1990 film starring Harrison ford.

The first two episodes and episode eight are directed by Anne Sewitsky (A Very British Scandal), who also serves as executive producer. Fellow executive producer Greg Yaitanes (House of the Dragon) directs episodes three through seven.

Presumed Innocent will premiere on Apple TV+ on June 12th.
