What is Reptile‘s plot? Here’s the synopsis:

Del Toro stars as hardened detective Tom Nichols, who embarks on a case that will turn his world upside down. After a young real estate is brutally murdered, Nichols attempts to uncover the truth in a case that unveils a web of conspiracy and corruption that’s enveloping his small-town life. Timberlake plays the victim’s husband, Will, who becomes one of the suspects, and Silverstone plays Judy, Nichols’ wife.

Who wrote and directed Reptile?

This marks the first feature screenplay credit for Del Toro, who penned the script alongside director Grant Singer and Benjamin Brewer (The Trust). Singer is making his feature film debut with Reptile, following a career directing music videos for high-profile artists such as The Weeknd, Ariana Grande and Sam Smith.

“The collaboration was a lot of fun,” Del Toro said to Netflix about working on the screenplay. “Once we knew where we needed the story to land, then the question becomes, ‘How do we get there? How do we make it interesting?’ We did research and tried to make it as real as possible. We talked about movies and storytelling with certain films as references. One that comes to mind is In Cold Blood [the 1967 crime film based on Truman Capote’s 1966 nonfiction book of the same name].”

Reptile reunites Benicio De Toro and Alicia Silverstone

Regarding reuniting with Silverstone, who starred alongside Del Toro in 1997’s Excess Baggage: “It was great reconnecting with her. She’s smart and she had great ideas. Alicia brought everything we wanted for the character and more.”

When is Reptile being released on Netflix?
