The official teaser trailer has arrived for Resurrection, a promising, unnerving-looking thriller starring Rebecca Hall and Tim Roth.

Hall plays Margaret, the proud mother of a teenage daughter (Grace Kaufman). Thanks to her capable and disciplined outlook, Margaret’s life is in order. At least… she thought so. It all hits the fan upon the return of David (Roth), who brings with him the horrors of Margaret’s past.

The teaser below suggests a tense and unsettling experience led by a fantastic performance by the always-reliable Hall. Early reviews confirm as much, with critics (an 84% on Rotten Tomatoes at the time of writing) praising Hall’s turn and the film’s measured sense of dread, all leading to what sounds like one hell of a final chapter.

This marks is the second feature film from writer-director Andrew Semans, who made his debut with dark comedy-drama Nancy, Please in 2012.

IFC Films will be releasing Resurrection in the U.S. – in cinemas, On Demand and on Digital on August 5th. Shudder will then have it streaming later in the year.
