The trailer has arrived for new Sylvester Stallone superhero film Samaritan, lined up for a global Amazon Prime Video release this August.

Thirteen-year-old Sam Cleary (Javon “Wanna” Walton, Euphoria) suspects that his mysterious and reclusive neighbour Mr. Smith (Stallone) is actually a legend hiding in plain sight. Twenty-five years ago, Granite City’s super-powered vigilante, Samaritan, was reported dead after a fiery warehouse battle with his rival, Nemesis. Most believe Samaritan perished in the fire, but some in the city, like Sam, have hope that he is still alive. With crime on the rise and the city on the brink of chaos, Sam makes it his mission to coax his neighbour out of hiding to save the city from ruin.

The film is directed by Aussie filmmaker Julius Avery, who previously helmed Overlord and Son of a Gun. This reunites him with Overlord‘s Pilou Asbæk (Game of Thrones), again playing the antagonist. The screenplay comes from Bragi F. Schut (Escape Room, Season of the Witch), whose story was also adapted into graphic novels from Mythos Comics.

Samaritan, also starring Dascha Polanco and Moises Arias, will land on Amazon Prime Video on August 26th.
