Netflix has released the official trailer for Seven Kings Must Die, a feature film that serves as a sequel and conclusion to the series The Last Kingdom, which ran for a total of 46 episodes across five seasons.

The plot finds Uhtred of Bebbanburg (Alexander Dreymon reprises his lead role) riding once more across a fractured kingdom – with several of the series’ much-loved returning characters – in a battle alongside, and against, new allies and enemies. Following the death of King Edward, a battle for the crown ensues, as rival heirs and invaders compete for power. And when an alliance comes seeking Uhtred’s help in their plans, Uhtred faces a choice between those he cares for most, and the dream of forming a united England.

The film is directed by Edward Bazalgette, who helmed six episodes of The Last Kingdom and whose credits also include Doctor Who, The Witcher and Poldark. Martha Hillier, writer on twelve episodes of the series, penned the screenplay.

Seven Kings Must Die will be streaming on Netflix from April 14th.
