Jeremy Allen White Is Bruce Springsteen in First Trailer for Biopic ‘Springsteen: Deliver Me from Nowhere’

20th Century Studios has unveiled the first official trailer for Springsteen: Deliver Me from Nowhere, the Bruce Springsteen biopic starring Emmy winner Jeremy Allen White (The Bear) as the legendary musician. The film charts the creation of Springsteen’s haunting 1982 album Nebraska, a stripped-back acoustic record that marked one of the most emotionally raw chapters of his career. Watch the trailer above and learn more below.

“Don’t need to be perfect,” the trailer sees Springsteen tell his guitar tech, Mike Batlan (played by Paul Walter Hauser), who is helping him record. “I want it to feel like I’m in the room by myself.” The line reflects the stripped-down, unfiltered approach that defined Nebraska — famously recorded on a 4-track cassette recorder in Springsteen’s New Jersey bedroom.

Described as a turning point in Springsteen’s life, the film explores the pressures of rising fame, the ghosts of family trauma, and the power of creating something honest in a world that often demands the opposite. Jeremy Strong (Succession) co-stars as longtime manager and producer Jon Landau, who says in the trailer, “He’s repairing that hole in himself. And once he’s done that… he’s going to repair the entire world.”

The ensemble also features Stephen Graham as Springsteen’s father Doug, Odessa Young as love interest Faye, Gaby Hoffmann as his mother Adele, Marc Maron as producer Chuck Plotkin, and David Krumholtz as Columbia Records executive Al Teller.

Behind the camera is Scott Cooper (Crazy Heart, Black Mass), returning to a familiar intersection of music and personal reckoning. Cooper’s 2009 directorial debut, Crazy Heart, told the story of a weathered country musician – a role that earned Jeff Bridges an Academy Award. Now, Cooper turns his focus to another artist in transition — Springsteen, grappling with isolation and self-doubt while standing on the cusp of superstardom.

In a statement, Cooper described the project as “deeply moving,” explaining that it gave him the chance to “step inside the soul of an artist I’ve long admired — and to witness, up close, the vulnerability and strength behind his music.” He continued, “The experience felt like a journey through memory, myth, and truth. And more than anything, it was a privilege to translate that raw emotional honesty to the screen, and in doing so, it changed me. I cannot thank Bruce and Jon Landau enough for allowing me to tell their story.”

Springsteen: Deliver Me from Nowhere opens in Australian cinemas on October 23 and in the U.S. on October 24.
