THE TEASER TRAILER

The teaser trailer has arrived for Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles: Mutant Mayhem, a new adventure that takes the franchise back to CG-animation following the two live-action films produced by Michael Bay.

The teaser itself can be watched above. My trailer reaction, where I also provide more information about the film and share my thoughts, can be watched below. Scroll down to also check out the film’s first poster.

THE PLOT

The new TMNT finds our mutated reptiles – who have spent years sheltered from the human world – setting out to win the hearts of New Yorkers and be accepted as normal teenagers through heroic acts. Their new friend April O’Neil helps them take on a mysterious crime syndicate, but they soon get in over their heads when an army of mutants is unleashed upon them.

THE VOICE CAST

Quite the voice cast here. While the cast playing the turtles themselves are relatively unknown – Micah Abbey as Donatello, Shamon Brown Jr. as Michelangelo, Nicolas Cantu as Leonardo, and Brady Noon as Raphael – the extended cast includes Hannibal Buress as Genghis Frog, Rose Byrne as Leatherhead, John Cena as Rocksteady, Jackie Chan as Splinter, Ice Cube as Superfly, Seth Rogen as Bebop, Giancarlo Esposito as Baxter Stockman, Paul Rudd as Mondo Gecko, Maya Rudolph as Cynthia Utrom, and Post Malone as Ray Fillet.

WHO DIRECTS and WRITES?

The film is directed by Jeff Lowe (who previously served as co-director on the fantastic 2021 CG-animated feature The Mitchells vs the Machines) and co-directed by Kyler Spears (reuniting with Lowe, after having worked in the art department for The Mitchells vs the Machines). Behind the screenplay is Brendan O’Brien, whose credits include comedies such as Bad Neighbours, Mike and Dave Need Wedding Dates, and The House.

Rogen, Evan Goldberg, and James Weaver are producers via their Point Grey Pictures banner.

AUSTRALIAN and U.S. RELEASE DATES

Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles: Mutant Mayhem will be in U.S. cinemas on August 4th and Australian cinemas on September 7th.
