Oscar winners Jessica Chastain and Eddie Redmayne star in the upcoming Netflix film The Good Nurse, which has its first trailer for you to watch below.

The film is based on the true story of American serial killer Charles Cullen (played by Redmayne), who confessed to murdering up to 40 patients during his career and is believed by some experts to actually be responsible for around 400 deaths.

Chastain plays Amy, a compassionate nurse and single mother struggling with a life-threatening heart condition, stretched to her physical and emotional limits by the hard and demanding night shifts at the ICU. She develops a strong friendship with a fellow nurse, Charlie, who starts at her unit.  But after a series of mysterious patient deaths sets off an investigation that points to Charlie as the prime suspect, Amy is forced to risk her life and the safety of her children to uncover the truth.

The Good Nurse is directed by renowned Danish filmmaker Tobias Lindholm, whose credits include A Hijacking, A War, and two episodes of Netflix series Mindhunters. The screenplay, an adaptation of the 2013 book of the same name by Charles Graeber, comes from Oscar-nominated scribe Krysty Wilson-Cairns (1917, Last Night in Soho).

Also starring Nnamdi Asomugha, Noah Emmerich, and Kim Dickens, The Good Nurse will begin streaming on Netflix and kick off a limited U.S. theatrical run on October 26th.
