The teaser offers a haunting look at the aftermath of Joel’s (Pedro Pascal) brutal death at the hands of Abby. Ellie (Bella Ramsey) wakes in a hospital bed and lets out a cry of devastation, while another shot sees her at Joel’s grave. We also see Tommy (Gabriel Luna), overcome with grief as he weeps over his brother’s body.

“I know their names and I know where they’re from,” says Dina (Isabela Merced), referring to the group that carried out Joel’s brutal killing. “The girl with the braid?” Ellie asks. Dina’s answer: “Abby.”

The upcoming episode is written by series co-creator Craig Mazin and directed by Peter Hoar. Hoar also helmed season 1’s acclaimed third episode “Long, Long Time,” which told the beautiful, heartbreaking story of Bill and Frank.

The Last of Us season 2 continues weekly on HBO and streaming on Max.
