Mickey Haller is back in business – but this time, the case is personal. Production has officially begun on The Lincoln Lawyer season 4, with filming underway in Los Angeles. Manuel Garcia-Rulfo returns as the slick, street-savvy defence attorney who usually operates from the backseat of his Lincoln, but this season, he finds himself on the other side of the law.
The upcoming season adapts Michael Connelly’s sixth Lincoln Lawyer novel, The Law of Innocence, and picks up right where season 3’s tense finale left off. With Mickey now in serious legal trouble, the stakes have never been higher.
“Well, the biggest cliff-hanger of all is ‘What is going to happen to Mickey?’ and that one certainly plays out across the whole season in the form of his trial,” series co-executive producer and co-showrunner Ted Humphrey (pictured on the set above and below) has told Netflix site Tudum from the set. “But in the first episode, you’ll understand at least the broad strokes of what specifically has happened and what charges — and adversaries — Mickey is facing. This is going to be the biggest and most personal challenge Mickey has ever faced, and also the biggest roller coaster we’ve yet taken our audience on.”
Mickey isn’t the only one facing a turbulent road ahead. “Our other characters will be dealing not only with Mickey’s case but with a slew of challenges they’re facing as well,” Humphrey added.

Of course, no courtroom showdown would be complete without an intimidating opponent, and season 4 is introducing a formidable one. Enter Emmy-nominated actress Constance Zimmer (UnREAL, Entourage), joining the cast as Dana Berg, a ruthless prosecutor known as “Death Row Dana.” A relentless force in the courtroom, she’s described as someone who bends the rules to her advantage – exactly the kind of adversary Mickey doesn’t want to face. “I shot our first scene with Constance in court, and it was fantastic!” Humphrey teased.
Fans can also expect the return of The Lincoln Lawyer regulars, including Becki Newton as Lorna, Jazz Raycole as Izzy, Angus Sampson as Cisco, and Neve Campbell as Maggie McPherson – who, notably, will be in every episode of the new season.
With Mickey on trial and a fierce battle ahead, the next chapter promises to be intense. And now, we wait; Netflix has yet to announce a release date.
