Christoph Waltz and Sam Neill are among the cast of The Portable, a Stan Original filmed in Queensland, Australia.

Australian streaming service Stan has unveiled the first trailer for the film, a magical fantasy adventure adapted from Tom Holt’s eponymous seven-book fantasy series. The plot follows Paul Carpenter (Patrick Gibson, Tolkien) and Sophie Pettingel (Sophie Wilde, You Don’t Know Me), lowly, put-upon interns who begin working at the mysterious London firm J.W. Wells & Co. and become steadily aware that their employers are anything but conventional. Charismatic villains Humphrey Wells (Waltz), the CEO of the company, and middle manager Dennis Tanner (Neill) are disrupting the world of magic by bringing modern corporate strategy to ancient magical practices, and Paul and Sophie discover the true agenda of the vast corporation where they work.

The picture is directed by Australian director Jeffrey Walker (Ali’s Wedding, Stan Original Series The Commons) and penned by Australian scribe Leon Ford (Upright, Offspring). The cast also includes Miranda Otto (The Lord of the Rings franchise), Chris Pang (Crazy Rich Asians), Jessica De Gouw (The Secrets She Keeps), Rachel House (Heartbreak High), Arka Das (Shantaram) and Damon Herriman (Stan series The Tourist).

The Portable Door will be opening in Australian cinemas on March 23rd, before being released on Stan on April 7th, same day as the U.K. and U.S.
