Shudder has unveiled the official trailer for upcoming horror film The Twin, led by Aussie star Teresa Palmer (Lights Out, A Discover of Witches, Hacksaw Ridge).

The film has Palmer playing Rachel, a mother dealing with the tragic loss of one of her twin sons. Hoping to build a new life, Rachel, her husband (Steven Cree, who also starred in A Discovery of Witches) and child move to the quiet Scandinavian countryside. But hopes of healing soon disappear as Rachel begins to unravel the torturous truth about her son and is forced to face the malicious forces attempting to take a hold of him.

The ‘devastated mother and creepy son in the countryside’ recipe can certainly provide unsettling, emotion-driven horror – and this looks solid, with further promise added thanks to strong performer Palmer. The film is directed by Finnish filmmaker Taneli Mustonen, whose previous horror effort was 2016 Shudder release Lake Bodom. Mustonen also wrote the script with creative collaborator Aleksi Hyvärinen, who also co-wrote Lake Bodom.

The Twin will begin streaming on Shudder on May 6th and hits select theaters/On-Demand/Digital in the US and Canada the same day.
