The teaser trailer has arrived for We Own This City, offering up an enticing first look at the upcoming HBO series from The Wire creator David Simon and producer George Pelecanos.

Jon Bernthal, Wunmi Mosaku, Jamie Hector, McKinley Belcher III, Darrell Britt-Gibson, Josh Charles, and Dagmara DomiÅ„czyk are among the many cast members of this six-episode limited series. Based on the book by Baltimore Sun reporter Justin Fenton, the series depicts the infamous corruption scandal that rocked the Baltimore Police Department’s once active Gun Trace Task Force and the ramifications of policies that championed drug prohibition and mass arrest above actual police work.

Considering it has a number of The Wire creatives back in a similar wheelhouse, this has all the makings of another potential winner – and another eye-opening look at what can lead to the corruption and moral collapse of a city. The corruption coming from the Gun Trace Task Force was truly shocking; you can read up a little more about it all in this 2018 Vox report.

All six episodes of We Own This City were directed by Reinaldo Marcus Green, who recently helmed Oscar-nominated Will Smith picture King Richard. Green has tackled troubling police activity before; he depicted a story of police killing a black man in 2018 drama Monsters and Men.

We Own This City, also starring Rob Brown, Don Harvey, David Corenswet, Larry Mitchell, Ian Duff, Delaney Williams, and Lucas Van Engen, among others, will launch on HBO in the U.S. on April 25th and Binge in Australia on April 26th.
