  • Scouts Guide to the Zombie Apocalypse (2015)

We don’t want to give too much away, but this gore-filled zombie film has got some pretty inventive zombie deaths. The undead creatures include strippers, scout leaders, topless cops and– cats? One of the best deaths that we’ve seen so far is when one scout shoots a baseball at a zombie’s head and it explodes like a blasted watermelon. Catch Scouts Guide to the Zombie Apocalypse in Aussie cinemas from November 5.

  • Dawn of the Dead (1978)

There’s no fighting needed in this classic film, as a sneaking zombie chops the top off his own head in a horrifying helicopter accident. Talk about a close shave!

  • 28 Weeks Later (2007)

Thought the last one proved that helicopters were effective in the apocalypse? Well, you ain’t seen nothin’. In this scene a helicopter is used as a whipper-snipper to kill a hoard of zombies in a field, and it’s gloriously gruesome.

  • Land of the Dead (2005)

In the zombie apocalypse it’s highly recommended that you set up an electric fence to take care of the killing for you, here’s hoping the power doesn’t go out..

  • Zombieland (2009)

There’s a certain nonchalance that you radiate when you have finally mastered the apocalypse, and that is shown perfectly in this scene by a nun who rings a bell to drop a grand piano on an awaiting brain-eater.

  • Survival of the Dead (2009)

A national guardsman shows that there’s more than just one way to cook your zombie this Thanksgiving, and he does it in style. Don’t have an oven handy? Use a flare to cook them from the inside so they burst into the perfect flame to light your cigarette.

  • The Walking Dead (2014)

The entire Walking Dead series features some epic deaths, not only limited to zombies, but one of the best ‘walker’ deaths is a scene with resident bad-ass assassin Michone and her samurai sword alone in the woods.

  • Shaun of the Dead (2004)

In this scene of everyone’s favourite comedy, Sean Penn shows us how to be really, really bad at killing zombies, and also how to treat ourselves after a good effort.

  • World War Z (2013)

In normal circumstances throwing a grenade inside of a moving plane would be a very bad idea, but when the zombie infection spreads like wildfire, there’s nothing cooler than watching Brad Pitt send them flying. No parachute needed!

  • REC 3: Genesis (2012)

This is what happens when the happiest day of a bride’s life is ruined by the apocalypse: raged-filled chainsaw deaths. While this clip is in Spanish, it needs no explaining.
