Warner Bros. Pictures and Legendary Pictures have unveiled the teaser trailer for A Minecraft Movie. Yep, it’s a live-action adaptation of the world’s best-selling video game. Take a look above.
The plot centres on four ordinary individuals—Garrett “The Garbage Man” Garrison (Jason Momoa), Henry (Sebastian Eugene Hansen), Natalie (Emma Myers, Wednesday), and Dawn (Danielle Brooks, The Color Purple)—who are suddenly transported from their daily lives into the magical and perilous world of the Overworld, a realm built entirely out of blocks. There, they must learn to survive, craft, and protect the Overworld from threats like Piglins and Zombies, all while being guided by a master crafter, Steve, played by Jack Black.
The cast includes Jennifer Coolidge, Kate McKinnon, Jemaine Clement, and Matt Berry.
The film is directed by Jared Hess, known for Napoleon Dynamite and Nacho Libre, working with a team that includes cinematographer Enrique Chediak (127 Hours), Oscar-winning production designer Grant Major (The Lord of the Rings: The Return of the King), and editor James Thomas (Pokémon: Detective Pikachu). The film’s visual effects are overseen by Oscar-winner Dan Lemmon (The Jungle Book), with costumes designed by Amanda Neale (What We Do in the Shadows). The musical score comes from Mark Mothersbaugh, whose credits include Thor: Ragnarok and the LEGO films.
Producers for the project include Roy Lee, Jon Berg, Mary Parent, Cale Boyter, and Jason Momoa, while Todd Hallowell, Kayleen Walters, Brian Mendoza, and Jonathan Spaihts serve as executive producers.
A Minecraft Movie is set for release in Australian cinemas on April 3rd and US cinemas on April 4th, 2025.
