The official trailer for upcoming sci-fi horror film Alien: Romulus has been unveiled! Take a look at the new trailer above and the film’s first poster (featuring a squirm-inducing facehugger) below.

This new instalment – the seventh feature – of the iconic franchise aims to return to the original horror roots. The plot here follows a group of young space colonisers as they explore the far reaches of a derelict space station, only to encounter the most terrifying life form in the universe.

The cast includes Cailee Spaeny (Civil War), David Jonsson (Agatha Christie’s Murder is Easy), Archie Renaux (Shadow and Bone), Isabela Merced (The Last of Us), Spike Fearn (Aftersun), and Aileen Wu.

Fede Alvarez, known for his work on Evil Dead and Don’t Breathe, directs the film from a screenplay he co-wrote with frequent collaborator Rodo Sayagues (Don’t Breathe 2). The behind-the-scenes team includes Ridley Scott, who directed the original Alien and helmed Prometheus and Alien: Covenant, serving as producer. Also on board, composer Benjamin Wallfisch (Blade Runner 2049), editor Jake Roberts (Civil War), and production designer Naaman Marshall (Don’t Breathe).

Mark those calendars: Alien: Romulus is scheduled for an Australian theatrical release on 15 August and a US release on 16 August.
