The 2025 BAFTA Film nominations have officially landed, with Conclave and Emilia Pérez stealing the show, racking up 12 and 11 nominations each.

Joining those two heavyweights in the spotlight are The Brutalist, Anora, and A Complete Unknown, all earning multiple nods, including spots in the coveted Best Film category.

While many of this morning’s announcements went as expected, there were still a few eyebrow-raisers. British-Irish dramedy Kneecap punched well above its weight, snagging six nominations, including Outstanding British Film—a big win for an indie about a Belfast hip-hop duo. But not everyone was so lucky. Big-name contenders like Paddington in Peru, Queer, and Challengers found themselves snubbed, despite earlier Golden Globe recognition. Also surprising – Wicked, left out of both the Best Film and Best Director line-ups.

Emilia Pérez‘s Karla Sofía Gascón made history as the first openly trans actress to earn a BAFTA nomination. And let’s talk about Saoirse Ronan—at just 30 years old, on an incredible streak with her seventh BAFTA nomination, with every nod coming from a different film.

On the technical front, Dune: Part Two and Nosferatu flexed their craft muscles with seven and five nominations each, dominating categories like Production Design, Cinematography, and Makeup & Hair. And let’s not forget the fresh addition of the Children’s & Family Film category, where the likes of Wallace and Gromit: Vengeance Most Fowl and The Wild Robot are duking it out for the honour.
